Trouble in Jigawa assembly over new leadership

There is a tension in Jigawa State  House of Assembly, over who emerges as the new speaker.

Although, the tenure of the present state assembly expires June 10.
Despite the time ahead before the new assembly, nocturnal meetings both in the state and the neighbouring Kano and Bauchi states was said to be the business that dominated the activities of the newly elected members of the state assembly.
The charged atmosphere in the assembly, which has all its 30 members from All Progressive Congress (APC), is as a result of effort from some quarters to return the former speaker, Idris Garba aka Kareka, to his former position.
It’s not yet clear, whether the members that are championing the move to bring the former speaker back are acting the script of the state government.
There are some conflicting reports, suggesting that the present speaker, Isa Idris must be shown the way out for his inaptitude to give the assembly a robust leadership while on the other hand, the plan for his removal is the machination of the executive arm of the government as Kareka appears to be the preferred speaker.
When contacted, both the spokespersons to the governor, and the state Assembly, Bello Zaki and Babangida Usman Hadejia, denied any knowledge of a plan to replace the present speaker.

It would be recalled that the former speaker, was impeached in January 2017 over what the assembly members described as high-handedness and abuse of power.
